The best resource route in Helldivers 2 is not necessarily the one that gives you the most of one currency. It is the route that lets you collect several useful rewards without wasting time. Super Credits, Medals, Samples, XP, and Requisition all have different farming patterns, so a balanced strategy needs to combine movement, map knowledge, and sensible mission choices.

When collecting Helldivers 2 Items during regular play, I prefer a route that keeps moving rather than one that forces me to stop at every possible location. Difficulty 6 works well for this style because it gives access to Super Samples while still leaving enough room for a fast player or squad to travel around the map without constantly fighting for survival.

Think in Loops Instead of Lines

A resource run becomes much easier when the map has a clear structure.

Instead of dropping in the middle and randomly running toward whatever looks interesting, start near the perimeter. From there, create a wide loop around the outside of the map.

This keeps your movement organized and reduces the chance of crossing the same ground multiple times.

The compass is important here. Question marks and other indicators can help identify POIs as you move. When something useful appears close to the route, investigate it. When the location is far away or protected by a major enemy position, keep moving.

The goal is to collect resources while traveling, not to travel specifically for every resource.

Make POIs Part of Your Path

Points of Interest are the foundation of this route.

You can encounter different types of locations while moving around the map, including containers, pods, and other small structures. These locations may provide Credits, Medals, Samples, or other useful pickups.

The important word is "may." Not every POI will provide exactly what you need, so avoid spending too much time checking locations that require a major detour.

Open planets make this process much easier. You can see more of the surrounding area, spot locations from farther away, and maintain a more direct route between objectives.

Build for Speed

A resource-focused loadout should help you travel.

Light armor is a natural choice because movement speed matters during every stage of the mission. A mobility backpack can also make a significant difference when the terrain contains cliffs or other obstacles.

Utility equipment is equally important. Being able to open containers or handle small structures quickly means you can collect the reward and immediately continue sprinting.

If the map is especially flat, an FRV can become one of the most valuable tools in the entire run. Long distances between POIs are much less troublesome when the squad can travel together.

The objective is not to maximize raw damage. It is to reduce the amount of time spent doing anything that does not contribute to your resource total or mission completion.

Pick the Planet Carefully

Not every planet is equally friendly to this strategy.

Flat desert areas and open ice terrain can provide excellent visibility. There are fewer physical barriers, which means your planned perimeter route remains relatively consistent.

Mountainous maps create more problems. A POI can look nearby but still require a long trip around a cliff or elevated area.

Deep water has a similar effect. Even if a location is technically close, the terrain can force you into a much longer route.

Environmental hazards also deserve consideration. Conditions that interfere with stamina or movement can make a fast farming route considerably slower.

When you are running several missions in a session, these small differences add up.

Secure the Higher-Tier Samples

The reason to choose Difficulty 6 rather than staying exclusively at the lowest difficulty is the wider resource pool.

Rare Samples are available from Difficulty 4 onward, while Super Samples become available at Difficulty 6. This makes Difficulty 6 a useful point for players who want to combine Sample farming with other resource collection.

Once your outer loop is mostly complete, move toward the center. Look for the recognizable Super Sample rock formation and collect the samples if it falls naturally within your route.

Do not make the entire mission revolve around one location, though. If reaching the samples requires a huge detour, consider whether the additional travel is worth the time.

Fight Only When Necessary

Combat is obviously part of Helldivers 2, but resource farming changes the priority.

A patrol that is not blocking your path does not necessarily need to be destroyed. Running around it can save ammunition and time.

The same applies to larger enemy positions. If an outpost is directly between you and an important objective, deal with it. If it is completely off your route, leaving it alone may be the more efficient decision.

This is especially important when playing solo. A bad engagement can consume reinforcements or leave you with too little time to finish the mission.

End With the Main Objective

After completing the outer sweep, push toward the central objective.

Collect any useful resources that naturally appear along the way, finish the primary objective, and then head toward extraction.

This final section is where your resource run becomes a complete progression run. You are no longer just collecting POI rewards; you are also receiving the normal mission rewards connected to successful completion.

Try not to turn the final stage into another extended search. Once you have a solid resource haul and the objective is complete, extracting is usually more valuable than spending several minutes searching for one last minor pickup.

Keep Dedicated Farms in Reserve

There are still situations where the all-in-one route is not the right tool.

If your only priority is Super Credits, a dedicated low-difficulty POI run can be faster because you do not need to worry about higher-tier Samples or full mission completion.

If Samples are your priority, select difficulties and mission types that actually provide the resources you need. If XP is the main goal, prioritize mission completion instead of spending most of the available time searching distant POIs.

The balanced route is useful because it reduces the need to constantly switch between farming methods.

Build a Repeatable Routine

A good resource route should be easy to repeat.

Drop near the edge, sweep the perimeter, follow useful POIs, collect Samples along the way, move toward the center, complete the main objective, and extract. Use mobility-focused equipment and avoid fights that do not help the route.

Once the routine becomes familiar, you spend less time deciding where to go and more time collecting useful rewards. Players who are also looking at Helldivers 2 Weapons for sale can then keep their resource spending separate from the farming process, making it easier to maintain a steady progression budget.

The biggest advantage of this method is consistency. You are not trying to make every mission perfect. You are building a repeatable loop that turns ordinary deployments into steady progress across several resource types.
