The have gone from having one high-end wide receiver to potentially three. This offseason, they've added Michael Pittman Jr. to the mix alongside DK Metcalf. And then in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, they picked Germie Bernard out of Alabama. And it's worth thinking about this approach a little deeper. Yes, of course, the Steelers recognized the overall need for improvement here, but this has to be more than that. Metcalf, Pittman and Bernard are all under contract for multiple years to come. The Steelers aren't viewing them just as receivers for Rodgers. Whoever the Steelers get next will get the chance to throw to these guys, too. So could that be Arch Manning out of Texas or Dante Moore out of Oregon? Both seem likely to be first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft. There will surely be a few other QBs who pop up as intriguing, as well, so this isn't to say that it's just Manning or Moore or bust. The Steelers could also go to free agency or a trade to eventually replace Rodgers, if they feel Drew Allar and Will Howard aren't the answer. The story here is more simply in the Bernard pick and what it represents. The Steelers have seen what it looks like to have a weak group of receivers.
