As poe2 trade looms on the horizon, promising a complete overhaul of Wraeclast's mechanics and a darker, more deliberate approach to ARPG combat, the community buzzes with anticipation. Among the many questions being asked, one frequently surfaces regarding the fate of beloved unique items from the original Path of Exile. Few present a more complex design challenge for the sequel than Admiral's Arrogance, a unique helmet that was a cornerstone for some of Path of Exile 1's most powerful, and often notorious, build archetypes. Its very essence was intrinsically tied to a gem system that no longer exists in PoE2, leaving exiles to wonder how, or if, such a distinctive piece of gear could ever find its place in the new game.
In the original Path of Exile, Admiral's Arrogance was a true game-changer, particularly for builds looking to maximize their defensive and offensive capabilities through auras. This was the equivalent of getting a free, high-level, five-link chest on your helmet. Inspiration is a powerful support gem that provided increased elemental damage, critical strike chance, and reduced mana cost, all while stacking Inspiration Charges for even more benefits.
This was the truly build-defining stat. It allowed players to reserve significantly more of their mana pool for powerful auras, enabling "aura stacking" archetypes that could push character power to absurd levels by running a multitude of defensive and offensive buffs simultaneously.
Admiral's Arrogance allowed players to scale their power and survivability to astronomical heights, effectively turning mana reservation into an offensive and defensive engine. It rewarded aggressive, mobile play and the meticulous management of mana, providing a distinct identity and immense power to those who wielded it.
Crucially, Path of Exile 2 fundamentally changes how gems work. Skills now have their own integrated support gem slots directly on the active skill gem itself, not on pieces of gear. This means a modifier like "Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Inspiration" simply cannot exist in its original form, as items no longer grant linked gem sockets.
GGG has repeatedly emphasized that mana will be a much tighter, more actively managed resource in POE 2 Orbs for sale. Skill costs are higher, and support gems directly increase mana consumption, moving away from PoE1's common endgame trivialization of mana.
