Season 14 has pushed a lot of players to rethink what they do first, and the old habit of chasing every shiny hint is not paying off. If you are looking for D4 items that actually help with the new boss loop, the real game is not in one single dungeon. It is in how you build your key supply, then spend it without wasting an evening on dead-end farming.

Why the usual route feels off

A lot of people still drift toward the Deathtoll Chamber because the game makes it sound like the place for Superior Lair Keys. That sounds neat on paper. In practice, it is slow. Even when you push hard into higher Torment tiers, the return can feel stingy, and you end up burning time for very little. That is why most players who keep score have stopped treating it like the main plan.

What actually matters first

The smarter move starts with Normal and Greater Lair Keys. You need a pile of them before the boss loop even feels worth doing. Helltides are the cleanest way to get there. Open Tortured Chests whenever you can. Keep your threat bar moving so Hellborne shows up. And do not ignore the Rite and Wrath Warband nodes, because they add up faster than people expect. If you spend a few solid hours there, you will notice your stash filling much faster than it would in random chamber runs.

Boss runs beat blind chamber farming

Once you have enough base keys, shift to standard bosses. That is where the real payoff starts. Mini Belial can appear after a boss goes down, and that is the drop players care about. He is the most dependable path to Superior Lair Keys, which changes the whole routine. Instead of gambling on a low-yield dungeon, you are chaining fights and waiting for the ambush that can turn one good session into several better ones.

Difficulty changes the pace

Mini Belial does show up at lower levels, sure, but the spawn rate gets noticeably better once you hit Torment 10. Go higher, and the odds improve again. That part matters more than a lot of guides admit. The table below gives a quick view of where each piece fits in the loop.
