That’s right — Maxwell: Ordinary Mechanic. As the brains of Matis Squad, Maxwell’s previous iterations never quite captured that one-of-a-kind “tinkerer’s charm” she radiates when she’s fully immersed in machinery work.

But the real highlight is her skill kit. Her Burst Skill is said to raise the ATK of both herself and all allies at once.

On that basis alone, she’s shaping up to be the kind of powerful Supporter that flies under the radar in high-difficulty stages and boss fights, yet quietly carries the entire team.

Of course, if you want to bring her home, you’ll want to get your wallet ready first. This Special Recruit runs from July 30 to August 20, and can be pulled using Gems or Advanced Recruit Vouchers, with the standard drop rates we’re all familiar with.

Let’s be real, though — gacha pulls always come down to luck. It’s so easy to get carried away and burn through all your resources, and that’s when the panic sets in. When that happens, I usually swing by COCODP to top up my stock, so I don’t end up short on Gems when I need to do more pulls. Missing out on her because you ran dry? That’s the absolute worst.

Getting back to the character herself, what I’m looking forward to most are her skill animations and voice lines. Voiced by Amamiya Sora, she’s got that classic tsundere charm — the whole “I’m focused on my experiments, don’t bother me” energy. This new iteration is bound to deliver even more adorable moments of her geeking out over machinery.

Then there’s the matching Chief Researcher Costume, with its polished, premium design that easily stands as the peak of workwear-style aesthetics in the game. Just picture her in this researcher uniform calibrating equipment in the lab — the scene comes to life right away.

I’m really drawn to the “driven, career-focused woman” character trope. Unlike some characters who wear their hearts on their sleeves, Maxwell lets her actual results speak for themselves, and that grounded, results-driven attitude feels all the more reassuring.

All in all, this new Maxwell SSR is well worth pulling for, both for her practical skill utility and her character appeal. I’m already mentally prepared to stock up on resources and max her out the moment she launches. After all, nothing quite beats that satisfying feeling of watching her tweak and refine her gear with total dead seriousness.
