That awkward moment when a former sticker contact keeps appearing in your social list is easy to fix, but Monopoly GO hides the control in a place many players never check. Open Friends from the main board, then use the Leaderboard and the player's Tycoon Card; this matters even more during a Monopoly Go Partners Event, where removing a name does not automatically undo an active pairing. The route is short once you know it, though the orange menu button is small enough to miss.

The Current Removal Route

Tap Friends in the lower-right corner, choose Leaderboard rather than Timeline, and select the player you want gone. Their Tycoon Card should open, showing an orange three-dot control beside the friendship duration. Tap it, choose Remove, and confirm. That is the whole process, but selecting the wrong screen is the mistake I see most often. Timeline is for recent activity; it isn't the place for friend-list management.

Do This, Not That

Older instructions may tell you to press and hold a player's name. That method may not respond on the current interface, so don't waste time hammering the activity feed. Start from the main board and follow this checklist instead.

Open Friends from the main board.
Select Leaderboard.
Open the correct player's Tycoon Card.
Tap the orange three-dot control.
Choose Remove, then confirm.
Return to the list and check that the name is no longer there.

That last check is useful when your list contains several similar names or profile pictures. Removing the wrong contact is a miserable little misplay, especially before choosing a teammate.

Timeline or Leaderboard?

These screens serve different jobs, and knowing that split makes the menu much less confusing. From what I've seen, players often open Timeline, see the person who just hit a landmark, and assume the removal command should be beside that entry. It isn't. Use the comparison below as a quick memory aid.

Screen Best use Removal control
Timeline Review recent interactions Not the intended path
Leaderboard Open a friend's profile Yes, through Tycoon Card
Tycoon Card View player details Orange three-dot menu

When the Button Is Missing

Sometimes the orange control doesn't appear on the first visit. Fully close Monopoly GO, reopen it, and retrace the route from Friends to Leaderboard. Make sure you tapped the player's portrait or name and opened the full Tycoon Card, not just a small activity preview. If the option remains absent after a reload, contact in-game support and describe the exact screen where it disappears. Include the player name and what you already tried, since that gives support a clearer starting point.

What Removal Actually Changes

Removing a friend cleans that person out of your normal friends list. It doesn't reverse earlier Shutdown damage, erase past activity, or create a fresh Partner Event slot. Once a partnership has been formed, the pairing continues for that event even after the regular friend connection is removed. So if a teammate is contributing poorly, removing them is a future-list decision, not a mid-event replacement button. Players who budget dice, stickers, or event resources around a cheap Monopoly Go Partners Event should make that distinction before confirming.

Build a List You Actually Trust

One angry Shutdown isn't always a reason to remove someone; attacks are part of Monopoly GO, and targets can be chosen quickly. Repeated targeting, an inactive account, or a one-time sticker exchange are better reasons to clean house. I could be wrong but, in my experience, a smaller list is easier to read during partner selection because reliable players don't get buried under forgotten contacts. Keep names you recognize, review unfamiliar additions before team activities, and use support when ordinary removal doesn't provide enough separation.
