Buying team cards before checking your collection can turn a short program into an unnecessary roster expense. In MLB The Show 26, the Retro Championship Series Program asks for specific team contributions, but those requirements do not justify spending MLB 26 stubs on every available upgrade. Start with eligible players you already own, then identify which mission actually needs help before committing currency.
Build Your Route Around the 30-Point Baseline
The reward path reaches Jhonkensy Noel at 10 points, Zack Britton at 20, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at 30, a Deluxe Choice Pack at 40, and Justin Verlander at 50. Ten Moments contribute three points each. Completing that set therefore covers the first three player rewards without requiring a dedicated team roster.
That makes Moments the sensible opening route for players whose collections lack Yankees, Dodgers, Guardians, Rays, or Brewers options. Treat each attempt as a specific objective: a required hit calls for different pitch selection than a multi-run scenario. Repeatedly swinging for home runs when the condition only needs contact wastes attempts without improving program progress.
Use Dodgers Players Where Objectives Overlap
The four missions require 410 Parallel XP with Yankees players, 260 with Dodgers players, 2,026 with Guardians and/or Rays players, and 2,026 with Dodgers and/or Brewers players. Dodgers cards offer the clearest overlap because eligible contributions can advance both their smaller team objective and the larger National League pairing.
Build around that overlap without letting it crowd out the American League requirement. A lineup packed with Dodgers may finish the 260-PXP target quickly while leaving the Guardians/Rays total untouched. Give eligible players from both larger groups meaningful playing time, and keep Yankees representation until its separate 410-PXP requirement is complete. Check counters after the first game to confirm credit.
Protect Playing Time Before Chasing Card Ratings
A higher-rated eligible card does little for this program if it stays on the bench. Put mission hitters into positions where you can use them consistently, and consider batting them earlier to increase their opportunities across repeated games. Keep enough reliable hitters around them to sustain innings; filling every slot with unfamiliar swings can reduce productive plate appearances.
Pitching deserves the same attention. An eligible pitcher who receives substantial innings may be more useful than a reserve hitter who rarely enters a game, depending on the mode and its PXP rules. Choose a difficulty where you can record outs and produce offense reliably. A tougher setting becomes inefficient when failed innings and weak contact outweigh its potential rewards.
Spend According to the Remaining Mission
After each game, review all four totals before adjusting your squad. Once Yankees reach 410 PXP, their program requirement no longer needs additional playing time. Dodgers remain relevant beyond 260 because their contributions can still support the 2,026-PXP pairing. Replace completed coverage with players serving unfinished objectives, rather than rebuilding the entire roster after every threshold.
Players targeting Verlander need all 20 mission points after completing the 30-point Moments set; stopping at the pack leaves the final reward unfinished. Keep program points separate from account XP when judging progress, and finish with owned cards whenever practical. If one position remains a real obstacle, compare its expected playing time with its cost before considering cheap MLB The Show 26 Stubs for a targeted roster purchase.
