A working main skill, a reduced support setup, and a currency reserve form the practical campaign checklist for PoE 3.30. Keep POE currency available for upgrades that solve an actual progression problem. Treat earlier mechanics as preparation material, not confirmation that every skill interaction, vendor option, or equipment requirement will remain unchanged.

Choose a starter that works before its preferred equipment

Choose the character with the clearest minimum working setup, not the largest finished damage figure. Your opening version needs an obtainable main skill, sustainable resource costs, and a replacement plan when a preferred item is unavailable.

Prepare two candidates with different equipment needs. A weapon-based attacker and a spell-based character provide more useful alternatives than two builds waiting for the same rare weapon.

Starter type Check before committing Reason to reconsider
Direct spell caster Mana sustain and safe casting windows Normal fights repeatedly exhaust resources
Weapon-based attacker Weapon replacements and accuracy where relevant Progress depends on one exact weapon
Damage-over-time character Application method and duration Moving targets interrupt reliable damage
Trap, mine, or totem character Deployment and activation conditions Setup leaves too little room for recovery
Minion character Survival and replacement procedure Required creatures are difficult to replace

These are screening criteria, not a confirmed ranking. Recheck the selected skill, supports, passive choices, and required item modifiers against the final update before committing currency.

Run the campaign with a short acquisition checklist

Write down where each required gem becomes available to your class. A gem name alone is not an acquisition plan: record its quest condition, vendor access, and a usable substitute.

Choose the first usable main skill and record when its replacement becomes available.
List the earliest useful supports, then prepare a reduced setup for equipment with fewer linked sockets.
Separate mandatory progression from optional encounters so a difficult side activity cannot hold up the campaign.
Before difficult encounters, inspect damage, resource sustain, recovery, and equipment requirements.
After changing equipment, confirm that the main skill remains usable and that other items still meet their attribute requirements.
Before mapping, identify the largest remaining weakness and reserve resources for that repair.

Diagnose the symptom before shopping. Comfortable clearing with slow bosses points toward sustained damage or attack uptime; adequate damage with repeated recovery failures calls for a defensive repair instead.

The Crafting Bench lets you target an equipment weakness without replacing several slots. Under the supplied earlier rules, it is available in every town from Act 2 onward; confirm access, recipes, and costs for the new update before relying on that route.

Keep socket spending behind basic functionality

Under the earlier socket rules, gems fit equipment sockets regardless of colour, while a matching coloured socket adds 10% quality to its gem. That makes socket colour an optimization expense rather than the first requirement for using a skill.

Inspect the gem's quality effect before spending Chromatic Orbs. The earlier crafting option for at least four non-white sockets costs 75 Chromatic Orbs, and non-white does not guarantee the particular colours you want. Temporary campaign equipment rarely deserves that commitment before its replacement cost is checked.

Keep trading and mapping funds separate from campaign repairs

Preserve an operating reserve instead of spending everything on one attractive item. Separate equipment spending, mapping supplies, and transaction needs so an upgrade does not leave the character unable to continue its planned activities.

The Currency Exchange matches compatible currency offers and requires gold. The established access route reaches Faustus in Act 6 at Lioneye's Watch; meeting him there or in Kingsmarch makes him available in the hideout.

Speak to Faustus and open Currency Exchange.
Select the currency to receive and the currency to spend.
Check the ratio direction, total quantity, and displayed gold fee.
Submit a small order while learning the interface.
Inspect the order's displayed status before creating another order for the same purpose.

An unfilled order does not establish an interface problem; its ratio may not match available offers. Equipment sales are separate from currency orders, so do not expect the exchange to handle an equipment purchase.

Before your next session, record your main skill's acquisition route, its reduced support setup, and the equipment weakness you intend to fix first. Keep any planned spending involving POE divine orbs separate from routine campaign repairs, and approve the purchase only after checking the complete character's requirements.
