Oitijhyo Sarbojonin Cultural Association is preparing to host its first Sharodiya Durgotsav from 16 to 21 October 2026 at an open community ground in Hinjewadi, Pune. The six-day celebration is being planned as a neighbourhood-focused Durga Puja that brings together culture, local talent, families and communities.
The organisers are not positioning Oitijhyo as the biggest Durga Puja in Pune. Instead, the focus is on creating a “para pujo”—a celebration where residents can participate, meet neighbours, support local talent and gradually build a tradition of their own.
What Will Make Oitijhyo Different?
Oitijhyo aims to create an atmosphere that feels personal and community-driven. Children from nearby societies will have opportunities to perform, families can gather for bhog and residents can return in the evenings to enjoy cultural programmes and spend time with friends.
“Oitijhyo means heritage. For us, heritage is not about how large the idol is. It is about creating memories that stay. We hope a child attending the Puja today will grow up and say, ‘This is my para pujo.’”
The programme will combine traditional rituals with neighbourhood participation, keeping the emphasis on community rather than large-scale celebrity entertainment.

Who Can Be Part of the Celebration?
The word Sarbojonin means “for everyone,” reflecting the diverse population of Hinjewadi. Residents from Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand and other parts of India are invited to participate.
Visitors will be able to join pushpanjali, enjoy bhog, attend arati, explore stalls and watch cultural performances. The stage will welcome local groups and performers, with programmes potentially featuring Rabindra Sangeet, Marathi group performances, classical dance and Bollywood acts.
How Will the Puja Support Local Participation?
Alongside religious and cultural activities, Oitijhyo plans to create opportunities for local artists, home bakers, food sellers and small businesses to participate through stalls and other community initiatives.
The organising team brings experience from more than 200 events across India, including Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Bengali New Year celebrations and other cultural programmes. Their experience covers permissions, vendors, programming, volunteers, safety and event operations.
